Established in 1782, The Boatside Inn is a traditional country inn and self catering holiday business and is renowned for being not only dog friendly but dog obsessed! Many of the staff, locals and regular visitors are all connected through their love of dogs and there is always a very sociable atmosphere in our bar and snug areas where people can dine alongside their four legged friends. In the winter time, many a slumbering dog can be found in front of the log burner after a long walk through the Tyne Valley and there are always a range of dig treats behind the bar while owners enjoy a hearty meal and a pint of local produced ale.

Our welcoming, beautifully maintained and spacious beer garden is always well stocked with water buckets for thristy dogs and there is even a self contained kennel area for owners who want to leave their dogs in a safe environment, should they wish to enjoy a meal in the slightly more formal surroundings of our restaurant.

Our B&B accommodation and self catering cottages are found in a separate annexe next o the pub and we welcome dog loving visitors throughout the year and unlike many ‘dog friendly’ establishments, we do not charge extra for furry visitors, which is greatly appreciated by guests

A friendly country pub that goes beyond the normal to welcome dog lovers, with excellent areas both out and indoors and staff who obviously have a great affection for canines of all descriptions.

My two dogs have a lovely walk along the South Tyne to the Boatside inn. No problem with the dogs in the main bar while I had a lovely hot beef sandwich ????????

The Boatside is very much our ‘local’ We really appreciate the friendly, warm atmosphere and the fact that we have always been able to take the dog with us whether it be to have a meal or just a drink. A lovely pub to have breakfast in or a mid-morning coffee after dog walking The staff are a delight and there is a good mix of locals and visitors from home and abroad. Very comfortable atmosphere is you happen to be on your own.

Wonderful canine friendly pub! We enjoy a walk along the Tyne and stop at the Boatside for a cold drink in the beer garden. There is always a fresh bowl of water for the dog and a great selection of gins for me! Keep up the good work.

Our pub is set in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country and we are perfectly situated for dog walkers who are local to the area or visiting the region and want to enjoy a hearty meal in our bar, accompanied by their four legged friend. Our beer garden is large and is always well stocked with water dispensers to keep the furry visitors well hydrated after a long walk along the Tyne river path
